Ugh I know... why am I asking you to do that?! Well this is about laundry not teen age angst. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FxgC-jZX8EM/VofwQUdCioI/AAAAAAAAA2I/RKM676aGJds/s1600/blog%2B%2B-%2B11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FxgC-jZX8EM/VofwQUdCioI/AAAAAAAAA2I/RKM676aGJds/s640/blog%2B%2B-%2B11.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Do you remember your mother saying over and over and over "Turn your cloths right side out to be washed"? Then it be came the litany of "The way it goes in is the way it will come out!" Then it became... "Ok that is it! You are doing your OWN laundry" I use to dread hearing those words... and was thinking about that today as I was loading the machine today and hanging laundry to dry. Those memories actually brought a smile to my face. Here in Uganda you purposely turn your cloths inside out to dry on the line or they will fade so fast... then the inside will be the "pretty color"!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HgrjFBhzo4E/VofwQVw3XnI/AAAAAAAAA2A/cOphx3v0BTo/s1600/blog%2B%2B-%2B13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HgrjFBhzo4E/VofwQVw3XnI/AAAAAAAAA2A/cOphx3v0BTo/s640/blog%2B%2B-%2B13.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Not requiring Tom to turn his cloths "right side out" sure has save me from sounding like my mother and his!! AND a lot of frustration, Thank you bright equitorial cloths fading sun! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dBIcUtrJtwY/VofwQTv8-LI/AAAAAAAAA2E/P_GLmWt_1mM/s1600/blog%2B%2B-%2B12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dBIcUtrJtwY/VofwQTv8-LI/AAAAAAAAA2E/P_GLmWt_1mM/s640/blog%2B%2B-%2B12.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Another benefit to bright sun and line drying is that it saves you a lot of money on exfoliation body scrubs! The towels are so stiff and scratchy that you don't need to use the scrubs.<br />
<br />
Have fun today and find joy and simple pleasures in everyday moments.<br />
<br />
Be encouraged<br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">What is your definition of a day at the office?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">What is your definition of a professional?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">To be a professional do you have to wear a suit?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Are only college graduates worthy of being considered professionals? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Here in Uganda the emphasis is for the youth of today to attend university and get a degree that will enable them to have a professional career of some type and earn a lot of money. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The definition of "professional" according to Webster's Dictionary is: - relating to a job that requires special education, training or skill - </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Webster also defines a "profession" as: - a type of job that requires special education, training or skill.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">What it doesn't say is that all of the education, training or skill come from the university setting. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">What about when your car breaks down? Or the sewer backs up or a water pipe breaks? I know you hope that the person you trust to fix it has the knowledge, training and skill needed. </span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Think about what the world would be like with out those who have the education, training and skill to build your house... the plumbers, electricians, roofers, painters, masons, carpenters...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">We each have unique skill sets are needed by others, we should appreciate that God has gifted us with these differences, and not look down on those we feel are "below" our level of "education, skill or training". </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">We spent a lot of time this year talking to the iY students about careers. We encouraged them to see their differences as gifts from God and that when you use your natural gifting and passion that God has given you, your profession, what ever it is, will be rewarding. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

The grass grows like kudzu grows in the Carolinas... at least an inch per day.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Today, while I was mowing the grass I STEPPED ON A SNAKE!!!! If there is one thing I really hate and I mean hate is a snake. It brings to mind the verse in Genesis 3:15 </span><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed... I am pretty sure I got a double portion of enmity!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I proceded to call for my husband to seek and destroy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">After Tom found the snake and decapitated it with a machete and a shovel, he showed it to Rose, who helps us cook. She said that she thought it was a black mamba... not for sure... </span><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I am very grateful for God's protection...</span><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">anti venom is several hours away. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Just a few minutes ago I received an iMessage from a dear friend in Greensboro sharing that she had been praying for me all day. That the Holy Spirit had continued to bring me to mind all day. Praise God for all of the prayer warriors He hedges us in with. Thank you Susan for being so sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and such a prayer warrior!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Recognize and praise God for his provision and protection. It is not just a happy coincidence when you are protected or saved from danger, bad situations or provision comes just when you need it. These things are all from God </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Be encouraged!</span><br />

I want to update you on the condition of her house now. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In February we were very concerned about her and the condition of her house because rainy season was about to start. </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">GSF hosts many teams through out the year and I asked the team coming from Grace Baptist Church from Camden Arkansas if they would be willing to help us provide Jaja Jennifer a new roof.</span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Boy did they come through!!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">They did supply the financial resources to make the repairs to Jaja Jennifer's house, but more importantly they had a great time bonding with her and the maintenance team from GSF that volunteered to server their neighbor in this way. </span><br />

Then ladies went on a prayer walk through the village with Penlope, GSF's Outreach Social Worker, who first brought Jaja Jennifer's need to my attention. We take these for granted, assuming that everyone has this skill. This is not true in Uganda. This is on skill set that is not actively taught in the school system. I want to be careful not to stereotype all people here as not being resourceful, quite the opposite infact. However many lack the ability to think critically about problems, situations or circumstances. <div><div><br></div><div>One thing I noticed is the simple ability to stack items in an organized fashion, or pack things together so that they fit and take up the least amount of space. That got me to wondering if they could work puzzles or ever had the opportunity to work puzzles. These simple "games or family past times" is one way we are actually taught critical thinking skills. </div><div><br></div><div>In May, our home church, Westover Church, came and brought many supplies from our "wish list" that would teach and encourage the development of critical thinking skills. The list included card games, board games, Connect4, chess & checkers, Jenga, and puzzles. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WAOc7T115vI/VZlwxUKWCTI/AAAAAAAAAtY/nEqJ6l4X-to/s640/blogger-image--1399881909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WAOc7T115vI/VZlwxUKWCTI/AAAAAAAAAtY/nEqJ6l4X-to/s640/blogger-image--1399881909.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>On Friday nights we have dinner together with the students and Martin, a young man that works for us. This Friday was no different. After a few rounds of the card game DutchBlitz I pulled out a puzzle to work while the everyone else played cards. So I talked with him about how to put a puzzle together and worked with him. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hZScxB-EvN0/VZlwh-h6NLI/AAAAAAAAAtQ/G1x8bzzPTwA/s640/blogger-image--763152556.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hZScxB-EvN0/VZlwh-h6NLI/AAAAAAAAAtQ/G1x8bzzPTwA/s640/blogger-image--763152556.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><br></div></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Martin was so proud to have finished the puzzle. Our Need For ItSo often people ask how to pray for us. There are many, many things to pray for... The people we serve, the impact for Christ we desire to be, for us to always be a reflection of Christ, for wisdom and discernment dealing with the young adults in our care... Another constant is the request for for our health and safety. <div><br></div><div>I want to thank you all for faithfully praying for all our needs and especially for our health and protection. There have been a couple of things that have happened recently that has made me truly grateful for all that pray for us. </div><div><br></div><div>Many missionaries have had malaria and bacterial infections recently. We thank God that the illnesses have not touched us or the iY students. </div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> On Friday, while Tom was driving out to GSF an object flew off a truck and struck the driver's side of the windshield. A small delivery vehicle that is really a 3 wheeled moped with a bed on it was hit. There was glass everywhere, the crushed vehicle off the side of the road where it came to rest, people standing around.. But the most disturbing thing was all the blood that we had to drive through. Although the body had been removed you could see the evidence of fatal injury. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">It takes all your concentration to drive here. You must use all your offensive and defensive skills. Constantly on the look out for pedestrians, animals, boda bodas that will dart in front of you, overtake from either side, watch for taxi vans that think the only thing that matters is them and often dangerously overtake, overspeed and are generally careless. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">There is no real organized system of emergency services. So if there is an accident the ambulance would not reach you in minutes with well trained personnel, it could take hours. We can not live fearing to travel so we pray before getting on the road and entrust each trip into His hands. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Thank you for your constant prayers for our protection and good health. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Psalm 91:1-2, 9-12 NIV</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> Who ever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> If you say, "The LORD is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">SB </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-15254707214293717172015-05-19T14:36:00.001-04:002015-05-19T14:36:47.676-04:00Floss...?Conversation of the day... <div><br></div><div>iY Student: Auntie Sharon do you have a new toothbrush you can give me...mine got spoiled. </div><div><br></div><div>Me: Yes I do, thanks to my sisters and friends back home for giving many supplies to help us help you! </div><div><br></div><div>I go to get the toothbrush and upon return and handoff I ask... <b>Opportunity to invest in the lives of these young people....PRICELESS!!</b><br />
<br />
Please pray with us as we walk with this group of young people into adulthood. <br />
Pray for each one:<br />
<br />
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>First and foremost for their walk with God, that they would truly commit their lives to Him and trust in Him for their future.</li>
<li>For the internships they will be starting in the coming week, that it would build confidence and provide good exposure to possible future vocations.</li>
<li>For their personal growth as they are challenged to expand their world view and think in new ways.</li>
<li>For healing in their lives, many have come from difficult backgrounds.</li>
</ul>
<br />
We thank God for trusting us with this responsibility and are grateful to Steve Brown of New Hope who is mentoring us through the 1st year of iY here in Jinja. <br />

There are furniture stores in Kampala, but the items there are very expensive and outside of our budget. The alternative is to shop as the Ugandans do... There is a road in Kampala where a lot of "manufactures" have their "work shops and showrooms" so that is where we went. You can find bed frames, book shelves, stools, desks, tables, chairs and more. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-uywpYdIBz5U/VO17V2jSfRI/AAAAAAAAAlM/iG1-CtYshv0/s640/blogger-image-1113005280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-uywpYdIBz5U/VO17V2jSfRI/AAAAAAAAAlM/iG1-CtYshv0/s640/blogger-image-1113005280.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CqGpCpDEdrs/VO17XdGpT3I/AAAAAAAAAlU/rlY3vvEUOUE/s640/blogger-image--893865935.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CqGpCpDEdrs/VO17XdGpT3I/AAAAAAAAAlU/rlY3vvEUOUE/s640/blogger-image--893865935.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>We arrived in the truck, because there really isn't street to door delivery. Getting out of the truck we are greeted, by a person who acts as your handler - broker, with "ahh my friend you buy from me I give you best pricing." So we begin the process of shopping. We are looking for a desk, sofa and 2 chairs and our handler directs us to the pieces and we negotiate. As we walked around and looked at different pieces we were followed by at least 7 people. They also stand close, so if you are trying to discuss the merits of a particular piece or price you have to do it quietly or ask for space. Haha</div><div><br></div><div>We learned from David, our driver that this handler is elected by the people who make the furniture to help sell their items and to negotiate for them and takes a cut of the sale. The manufacturers we delt with did not appear to speak a lot of English. </div><div><br></div><div>We settled on a basic 3 drawer desk, a set of solid wood sofa and chairs, 2 reed racks to be used in the kitchen and a shoe rack that we felt would stand up to many teens. We still have to purchase cushions for the sofa & chairs or none of us will spend much time relaxing in them. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-rOEj9RSdP5E/VO17Yg9DVKI/AAAAAAAAAlc/pvV4vwep4HE/s640/blogger-image-1101769836.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-rOEj9RSdP5E/VO17Yg9DVKI/AAAAAAAAAlc/pvV4vwep4HE/s640/blogger-image-1101769836.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>The guy in the green shirt was our "handler." </div><div><br></div><div>It was quite the adventure and now we are experienced. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-19061038329187338112015-02-23T10:28:00.001-05:002015-02-23T10:28:02.621-05:00Starlight in the morning...Recently I had the opportunity to go with our new Outreach Program Social worker, Penlope to visit one of the elderly that is on our feeding program. It truly was a pleasure to meet this Jaja, Luganda for grandmother.<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-s5JShTSu2mI/VOtG_vZGmEI/AAAAAAAAAk8/3Hmg5oQU-PQ/s640/blogger-image--2099447828.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-s5JShTSu2mI/VOtG_vZGmEI/AAAAAAAAAk8/3Hmg5oQU-PQ/s640/blogger-image--2099447828.jpg"></a></div><br></div><br></div><div> She lives in the village of Kikube with her granddaughter in a small two room house. We learned that she once made a living doing agricultural work. After she developed severe hernias that required surgery she was unable to work again. Unfortunately the son, who is the father of the granddaughter is an alcoholic , not around or providing assistance. <div><br><div>To make ends meet she "digs" or grows some food and tries to find light labor jobs. Every shilling she makes either goes for her meager food supply or saved for her granddaughter's school fees. </div><div><br></div><div>We were visiting her to see how we might be able to help with her report of a leaky roof. <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">When we arrived she greeted us kindly as is the custom here. Her house is 32 feet long and 10 feet deep, divided into two rooms. She invited us into her house. As we entered it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. She has no electricity and only one window opening with a wooden shutter and one door. My eyes adjusted and I looked up, it was like seeing the pin pricks of starlight against a velvety black night sky. There are so many holes in her tin roof. My first thought was how does she and her granddaughter stay dry now that the rainy season has returned?! Answer... they don't. </span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-SVkNzXD_lzk/VOtG9BSUNwI/AAAAAAAAAk0/TuYFVd2U6Lc/s640/blogger-image-217965401.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-SVkNzXD_lzk/VOtG9BSUNwI/AAAAAAAAAk0/TuYFVd2U6Lc/s640/blogger-image-217965401.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Tom and I are working to get the roof fixed as quickly as possible. Tom and the maintenance team will perform the work. His team are glad that they can give back to their community in such a tangible way. <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">All the tin sheets must be replaced and several of the boards supporting the roof are rotten and also need to be replaced. </span></div><div><br></div><div>In US currency the repair of her roof will cost less than $200, but in her current situation it is unattainable. </div><div>We are so greatful to you for making this outreach possible through your faithful support. There are many if these stories surrounding GSF and our hope for 2015 is to help more people who are in great need. Please pray with all of us at GSF, missionaries and staff alike, as seek to show the love of God in word and deed. </div></div></div><div>James 1:27</div><div>Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit the orphans and widows in their distress...</div><div><br></div><div>Sharon...</div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-13692865068838327732015-02-15T07:48:00.001-05:002015-02-15T07:48:12.058-05:00If It Moves.. Flick It Off Off Your PlateWhile having lunch today... Simple PB&J's, we noticed that the crumbs from the bread were moving on the plate... Dang Ants! They can detect PB&J's at 200 yard and be on it practically before you set the plate down! After a good laugh...sigh... we just flicked them off the plate and kept eating... After all ants are protein too! 😝<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-xuYNnQGWKsQ/VOCViH23dPI/AAAAAAAAAkU/m4FR26Z-KxY/s640/blogger-image--651317262.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-xuYNnQGWKsQ/VOCViH23dPI/AAAAAAAAAkU/m4FR26Z-KxY/s640/blogger-image--651317262.jpg"></a></div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-33091015520904802972015-02-10T04:02:00.001-05:002015-02-10T04:02:59.204-05:00Is that a tan or dirt??<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I use to have the Teva tan line from my Teva flip flops, now I have the Teva red dirt lines... It is a beautiful time of prayer. <a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X4H_kxbXNn0/VNLwUHPo0nI/AAAAAAAAAjg/0h05pzGnGhI/s640/blogger-image--450903778.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X4H_kxbXNn0/VNLwUHPo0nI/AAAAAAAAAjg/0h05pzGnGhI/s640/blogger-image--450903778.jpg"></a></div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-83199969355894197832014-08-29T04:30:00.001-04:002014-08-29T04:30:42.844-04:00Life DisrespectedPlease take a moment to pray for the sanctity of life in Uganda. <div><br></div><div>In the past four weeks two babies have been found dead, discarded in two of the few dumpsters here in Jinja. Baby nunmber one was a child sacrifice, with the noose still around its tiny neck. Baby number two discovered today, discarded naked and only 4 months old less than 1/2 block from the Jinja Crisis Care Pregnancy Center where it would have been taken and loved with out question. </div><div><br></div><div>I know that Uganda is not the only country that suffers this sin, disregarding the sanctity of life given by God, but it is so in my face here. As much as it breaks my heart, <b><i>how much more does it break God's? </i></b></div><div><b><i><br></i></b></div><div>Please pray not only for Uganda but all countries who turn their faces away from protecting the innocent. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-73985881335432048792014-08-26T12:44:00.001-04:002014-08-26T12:44:44.610-04:00Uganda 2014<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/EM6beJ8LWXc" width="480"></iframe><br /><br />

Thanks to Melanie, Brian and Julie for putting this video together of their time at GSF.<br /><br />
<br /><br />
I feel so blessed that God chose to send me to GSF to take on the role of coordinating and hosting the teams and visitors. It has been such a blessing and encouragement to meet over 100 brothers and sisters in Christ this year. <br /><br />

This past Sunday and today we have had amazing thunderstorms. Huge claps and bright lightening. </span></div><div><br></div><div>One interesting thing about the rain here is that just when you think it couldn't possibly rain harder it does, like God is opening the faucet even more... Amazing.! </div><div>I'll post some video later so you can get the sound effects as well. Positively deafening with a metal roof. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dZ8wme_TqLQ/U_x8Zoe0BmI/AAAAAAAAAgk/0O8XVIDmw40/s640/blogger-image--1152382087.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dZ8wme_TqLQ/U_x8Zoe0BmI/AAAAAAAAAgk/0O8XVIDmw40/s640/blogger-image--1152382087.jpg"></a></div><br></div>Tom and Sharon Batleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03623491281505829378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923922905874039881.post-76057143446408357322014-08-22T03:10:00.001-04:002014-08-22T03:10:54.929-04:00Uganda March 2014<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/uPhXxgd2cvI" width="480"></iframe><br /><br />
